Master ICD-10 coding through interactive games and challenges. Test your knowledge, improve your skills, and make learning medical codes fun and engaging.

Code Match Challenge

Race against the clock! You have 60 seconds to match as many ICD-10 codes to their correct descriptions as possible.

ICD-10 Flashcards

Study ICD-10 codes with interactive flashcards. See a description, then reveal the code to memorize the associations.

How the two ICD-10 games work

Code Match Challenge shows one ICD-10-CM code at a time and four descriptions: the right one and three taken from other codes. You get 10 questions and 60 seconds, and your score is the share you answer correctly before time runs out.

Flashcards show a code's description first. Recall the code, then reveal it to check yourself. Each session deals 10 random cards; shuffle or start a new set to keep practicing.

Which codes the games use

Both games draw from 500 real codes of the FY2027 CMS ICD-10-CM code set, A00.0 to A81.09, from the chapter on certain infectious and parasitic diseases, and keep codes whose titles are short enough to read on a card. Descriptions are the official CMS titles, unedited.

Tips for learning ICD-10-CM codes

  • Read the structure: every ICD-10-CM code starts with a letter, has 3 to 7 characters, and puts a decimal point after the third character.
  • Notice how the characters after the decimal add detail, such as the organism, the site or the complication.
  • Say the full title out loud before you answer; similar codes often differ by one word, such as "unspecified".
  • Practice in short daily rounds and repeat the cards you missed.

The games are for study only. When you code a real record, search the full code set and confirm the code against the documentation and the official ICD-10-CM guidelines.
